Canadians for Democratic Media

Project Details
Launch Date:
July 2007
Synopsis:

Canadians for Democratic Media is a national, non-profit, non-partisan media reform network working to increase informed public participation in Canadian media policy formation. They approached us with the idea of a website that would function as a organizational and promotional tool in helping them achieve their goals. Complications lurked at every corner though, time and budget were both very limited, and the national promotion of the site brought server speed and capability into question.

Execution:

What we provided was a site tailored to the be used for communication, promotion, and networking by all those working for more open and democratic media. Living on a brand new dedicated server to handle increased traffic and built on the solid framework that harnesses the full power of Drupal 5, democraticmedia.ca continues to serve an important role in promoting and bringing together Canadians who want to, stop big media from becoming more concentrated, advocate for policies that promote independent media, and support media that supports democracy. Key features include a system that allows individuals and organizations, even those currently unregistered, to sign a virtual petition and be listed instantly as supporters on the members list of the site.
